Passports are required for all air travel to and from the Caribbean (including Jamaica). If you don't have a valid passport, do this first! Ensure you have a passport at least ordered before you make any of your travel plans. Remember, these travel plans
become useless if you don't have the necessary documents to enter the country.
Jamaica has many staying options. You can choose from traditional hotels, vacation resorts, all-inclusive resorts, as well as private vacation rentals. Although each of these options are nice, most tourists and travel experts recommend all-inclusive
resorts. A stay at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica gets you much more than a roof over your head. Your stay includes some forms of onsite entertainment, food, drinks, snacks, tips, and qualifying airport transfers. You can price compare to ensure you
get the best deal, but always remember that quality is worth paying a little bit extra for.
Montego Bay in Jamaica has lots to do and see. Even if you decide to stay at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica (where you never need to leave because there is so much to do right onsite), it is still a good idea to familiarize yourself with local
attractions. Montego Bay is home to many restaurants, boutiques, bars, and nightclubs. Many tourists claim you never really experience Jamaica until you get out there and mingle with locals even just for an hour or two.
When packing for your Montego Bay Jamaica vacation, check the weather forecast first. Plan your trip around that forecast. With that said, most will tell you that the weather is always warm and sunny in Jamaica. It is best to pack lightweight clothing
and swimwear. If visiting during the winter months, a light sweater or jacket is recommended for nights. Some vacation resorts and all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica do have dress codes for upscale restaurants. If you opt to stay at one of these resorts, a
nice evening dress or pants suit is recommended. As always, be sure to pack all necessary documents, such as your driver's license, passport, and any medical documents you have.
As for payment, the currency in Jamaica and Montego Bay is the Jamaican Dollar. You can exchange currency before you leave, but many resorts have currency exchange centers onsite or nearby. For your convenience, most major credit cards are accepted at
resorts, restaurants, and shopping centers throughout Jamaica. With that said, it is always a good idea to have a little bit of cash on hand at all times.
Transportation in Montego Bay is available through cab services or car rentals. If you wish to venture of your resort grounds, decide ahead of time how you want to travel. If you only plan to venture out just one day, using a taxi may be your best
option. Car rentals are available for visitors who have a valid driver's license and are at least 25 years of age. Always remember however that in Jamaica you drive on the left.
Your Trip
Departing for a foreign country is likely to produce a wide range of emotions. You are excited, but nervous at the same time. First and foremost, remember to have fun. If this is your first time taking a Caribbean vacation, you may actually have to
remind yourself to enjoy yourself.
Despite what you might have heard, Jamaica is a safe vacation destination. Regardless of where you travel, whether it be to a new country or just across town, you always need to be aware of your surroundings. The general rule of thumb with travel is
leave it at home if you will miss it if it is gone. All valuables should be left in your in-room safe.
If you opted for an all-inclusive resort in Montego Bay Jamaica, don't forget to make use of all inclusions. Remember, there were included in the cost of your stay. Your food and drinks were included, so eat away. Some forms of onsite entertainment were
included too. If that included beach activities, try your had at windsurfing or snorkeling; there is no better time like the present (especially when you don't have to pay extra).
